One Of The Best Caramel Cake Recipes Ever


Here’s one of the best caramel cake recipes you’ll ever taste.

It’s a true southern treat that’s mouthwateringly delicious and full of rich buttery goodness.


Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of sugar
  • 1 ½ cups of shortening
  • 3 cups of flour
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla
  • 1 ½ cups of milk


Caramel Icing:

  • 1 can of Eagle Brand milk (14 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 stick of butter


Caramel Cake Baking Steps:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl, combine your sugar and shortening and mix until it’s smooth, then add all remaining cake ingredients and incorporate thoroughly.
  3. Pour the batter equally into two round non-stick baking pans lightly coated with baking spray.
  4. Bake for 40 minutes or until your cakes pass the “toothpick test”. Cool the cakes completely before icing them.


Icing Preparation:

  1. Add all your icing ingredients to a small sauce pan over a low heat and cook for two minutes until the mixture is thick and creamy (stir continuously).
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit until it cools and thickens up slightly.
  3. Place one of your cake layers onto a plate and pour half of the icing over it, then stack the second layer on top and pour the remaining icing over it.


Tip: Be sure to pour the icing when it's still warm and not fully "set up". If it starts to run too much off the sides of the cake use a butter knife to scrape it back until it sets properly.
